Two Secrets to a Healthier Lifestyle

As we near the year 2020, it’s no secret that diet and exercise are major factors to living healthier lifestyles or fitting into those pair of jeans in the back of the closet (come on, we all have those!). What if I told you that there is more to a healthier lifestyle than just diet and exercise? Intrigued? I’m going to reveal my two secrets that are just as important to living a healthier lifestyle.

Have you ever started a diet on a Sunday and by Monday morning you were on Day 1 again? Don’t worry, most of us have. An estimated 45 million Americans diet each year (Boston Medical Center, 2019). With that being said, let’s unlock the first secret. According to the Mayo Clinic (2019) finding true support for your weight loss journey can be the difference between succeeding and failure. When you make up in your mind that you want to become a healthier version of yourself, it’s so important to surround yourself with other like minded individuals who are either currently making the same choices or looking to make the same choices as you. Having a strong support system can be the difference between overindulging for breakfast at the local breakfast spot or joining a spin class followed by a more sensible meal.

Once you have that support system (or accountability partners as I like to call them) you can then unlock the second secret which is the “I can do this” mindset. You have to first believe in yourself and visualize yourself reaching your goal. Half the battle to actually suceeding is believing you can. You have to encourage you which is much easier to do when you have the right people in your corner cheering you on.

Invest in yourself, invest in your circle and watch as you receive the return on your most important investment. A healthier you.
